Our history
Lighthief’s journey began seven years ago with a simple yet impactful question:
what happens to old and used solar panels?
Two friends Darius and Arkadius around 2017, sitting in their favorite restaurant Popas and drinking coffee, were lively discussing recycling solar panels. Those were the days when telemarketers called constantly trying to sell photovoltaic installations. But what will happen to all this photovoltaic scrap in 10 years? Darius asked.

Driven by curiosity and a desire to find a sustainable solution, one of them set out to explore this overlooked area of the renewable energy industry. He was our founder Arkadius Sybaris and he quickly traveled to China to gather insights, technology, and knowledge. Sparking the creation of Lighthief as a company dedicated to addressing solar panel recycling.
The word LIGHTHIEF is an obvious play on words. Arkadius’s studies in ancient languages were a strong inspiration. In many ancient cultures, gods or people who stole fire and the sun and then brought them to Earth were called ”thieves of light”.
So what are photovoltaic panels if not ”thieves of light”.
Converting solar rays into energy that serves humanity. Incidentally, Eddison himself called them similarly. Arkadius continues to develop Lighthief with his partners and aspires to become one of the largest O&M companies for renewable energy sources. His greatest inspiration remains Professor Jan Czochralski, the creator of the silicon crystal production method, without which there would be no modern electronics and of course photovoltaics itself!
From Recycling to O&M:
A Natural Evolution
Initially founded as a solar panel recycling company, Lighthief quickly identified an even larger
opportunity in the operations and maintenance (O&M) side of the solar industry. As more solar farms
emerged globally, the need for reliable servicing and maintenance became apparent, and Lighthief
expanded its offerings. With a strong foundation in recycling and an understanding of the solar panel
lifecycle, Lighthief was perfectly positioned to lead in O&M services, ensuring that solar installations
remained efficient and sustainable over their entire lifespan.
Entering the EPC Market
Building on the success of its recycling and servicing ventures, Lighthief continued to evolve. The
company expanded its focus to become a full-service EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction)
contractor for the solar industry. This strategic expansion allowed Lighthief to take on larger roles in
project development, from initial planning and engineering to procurement and on-site construction.
Working closely with investors and clients, Lighthief not only helped build solar energy sources for others
but also began investing in and developing its own energy projects, further diversifying its portfolio.
Commitment to Quality and Customer Service
At every stage of its growth, Lighthief has remained committed to delivering high-quality service and
maintaining strong relationships with clients and investors. From its roots in recycling to its expansion
into servicing and EPC contracting, Lighthief has learned the importance of quality in both the
construction and maintenance of solar energy systems. This commitment has earned the company a
reputation for reliability and excellence in a highly competitive industry.
Expanding Beyond Poland: A Global Vision
Although Lighthief’s journey started in Poland, the founders quickly realized that the company’s
ambitions needed to extend far beyond its home market. They recognized the importance of building
relationships with clients and investors across borders. With a clear vision for growth, Lighthief expanded
into international markets, eventually moving its headquarters to Limassol, Cyprus. Today, the company
operates local offices in Poland, Italy, Spain, and Cyprus, and is preparing to open new branches in
Albania, Macedonia, and Montenegro.
A Future of Growth and Innovation
Lighthief’s story is one of constant evolution and ambition. What began as a niche recycling company has
grown into a leading player in the solar industry, with a presence across Europe and a diversified portfolio
that spans recycling, O&M, and EPC contracting. Today, Lighthief continues to push forward, building
relationships, expanding into new markets, and investing in the future of solar energy. For investors and
professionals in the solar industry, Lighthief represents a forward-thinking, innovative partner committed
to driving the renewable energy revolution across Europe and beyond.
